In usual applications (dynamic rope around a carabiner), the clove hitch generally does not slip. There is a chance to slip if the clove hitch is tied around a big diameter object (tree) and if the rope is static. With dyneema around the carabiner there are some reports of slow slippage roughly ~5 kN of force (= ~500 kg). Overall, the clove hitch does not slip but its wise to back it up with another knot in critical applications.
