Singlepitching is a lead-climbing discipline where you climb from ground to a single anchor point. If there are multiple anchor points on the route, it is called Multipitching.
Prerequisites
Knowledge
To perform singlepitching safely, one must learn the following techniques:
- Clipping (clipping, quickdraw safe use, carabiner safe use)
- Lead-climb belaying (Belaying from harness with a Tuber, Tuber belaying safety)
- Lead-climb foot placement
- Building an anchor (and setting up a toprope)
- Cleaning up the anchor and getting lowered
- Abseiling
- Bailing a route from a single bolt
Gear
- Climbing rope (dynamic, twice as long as the length of the routes you plan to climb)
- Carabiners (a few D-carabiners based on what is your plan, at least one HMS carabiner per climber)
- Sling for building an Anchor
- Quickdraws (enough for the amount of bolts on a route, it is handy to have a few extra)
- Belay device
- Harness
- Climbing shoes
- Topo of the crag
- Small medkit
Consumables
- Water
- Food
- Sun protection
